What is Wellness Dentistry?
Wellness dentistry is a holistic approach to oral health that goes beyond just treating teeth and gums. It focuses on how your oral health connects to your overall wellbeing. Instead of just fixing problems when they arise (like cavities or gum disease), wellness dentistry emphasizes prevention, education, and whole-body health. It also features a key principle in that it focuses on choosing the most natural treatment option available so as to not create harm and risk to the body.
What does Integrative mean?
While most dentists understand the oral systemic connection, wellness-focused dentists take this methodology further. This type of dentistry requires additional education and training beyond what is studied in dental school. It takes much more time to relay this information to the patient so that oral and systemic health are addressed in tandem. To best treat each patient, collaboration is key.
As a wellness-focused dentist, Dr. David often works closely with your other health providers. We partner with MD’s, DO’s, ND’s, DC’s, integrative physicians, and nutritionists to support your whole-body health.
Do you see emergency patients?
Nobody wants to have a dental emergency, and keeping up with your regular checkups can help prevent one from happening. But if an emergency occurs, we are here for you! Call us as soon as you become aware of the issue so that we can assist in finding you an expedited time for your visit. For most dental emergencies, call before 9:00am and we will do our absolute best to get you in the same day.
We also have an emergency line that is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! If your emergency happens outside of our regular business hours, all you have to do is call our office and it will direct you to our emergency line.
Do you see kids?
Absolutely! We love kids and believe many problems can be detected very early in life when the proper time is taken to thoroughly evaluate children. Common practice in our office is centered on making sure a child has proper jaw development, breathing patterns, tongue space, and a healthy oral biome. Attention to these things early will pay dividends for decades to come.
Why do I need regular dental checkups if I’m not in pain?
Many dental issues, like cavities or gum disease, don't cause pain in the early stages, just as dangerous health conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes and cancer don't often exhibit noticeable symptoms early on either. Regular checkups help detect these issues when they are much easier and less costly to treat effectively.
